GuidesCreating a website project brief
Define goals, audiences, key features and content for a website project.
Separate URLs, hreflang, canonicals, sitemaps and genuinely localized content are essential.

Translating navigation labels alone does not create a complete localized page.
Search engines need discoverable URLs for each complete language version.
Test each locale without login and verify that missing translations do not return another language under the wrong URL. Review image alt text and article structured data.
Hreflang is not a substitute for quality translation, and a sitemap never guarantees rankings.
Monitor indexing reports and international targeting issues after release.
Give each genuinely translated page a stable language URL and reciprocal hreflang links. Use the correct canonical for each language page, and only submit accessible published URLs in the sitemap.
Google recommends separate URLs and reciprocal hreflang annotations for localized equivalents. Each localized page should reference itself and the other versions; translating only navigation while leaving the article untranslated does not produce a genuine localized article.
Adapt the title, core text, internal links and metadata for each audience. ISO timestamps are appropriate for structured data while visible dates may follow local conventions. Validate indexing in Search Console.
